UNIS Launches the First "Cloud Computer" in the WorldPrint

On December 10, as a subsidiary of Tus-Holdings, UNIS held a press conference in Beijing themed by “UNIS Cloud Service Strategy and UNIS Cloud Computer”, when Mr. Qi Lian (UNIS President) announced the company's “Cloud Service” Strategy, took the lead to propose the concept of the Cloud Computer” and launched the first patented “UNIS Cloud Computer” in the world.
 
To keep pace with the trend of the big data age, UNIS has defined its own “Cloud Service” Strategy, including the infrastructure construction service for cloud computing, the application solutions service for the cloud computing industry and the platform-based service for cloud computing. In order to meet the demands of the industrial application, UNIS will change completely from a traditional software & IT service provider to a cloud service provider. The above three levels of services will become the core power to promote the rapid transformation and leaping development of UNIS.
 
 
 Nowadays, with the explosive growth of the current and historical amount of human information, it has become impossible for the existing IT infrastructure to handle so much human information. Therefore, how to store, compute, manage and retrieve the great amount of unstructured data has become an urgent issue in the information industry. That was why UNIS took the first to propose the concept of the “Cloud Computer”.

UNIS defines the “Cloud Computer” as a powerful computing device that combines various relatively low-cost computing resources under the cloud computing virtualization technology in a distributed architecture completely different from that of the personal computer and the super computer. It can support the big data processing and the high-throughput high-security information service with its computing capacity and storage capacity dynamically scalable and unlimitedly extensible.
 
 
Guided by the concept of the “Cloud Computer”, its core technical team has made painstaking efforts in the past two years to create the company's first-generation self-developed cloud computer - “UNIS Cloud 1000”, which was revealed in this press conference. As the core part of the infrastructure construction service for cloud computing under the “Cloud Service Strategy”, a single “UNIS Cloud 1000” Cloud Computer boasts of as many as 65535 CPU processors, as large as 85PB storage space and as quick as 1.2GB/second in throughput. And its running system software includes its patented virtualization module, big data module and automatic deployment module.

The current UNIS cloud computers, typically the “UNIS Cloud 1000” Cloud Computer, have the following features: distributed new architecture and parallel computing by various cheap computing resources (to increase the computing speed and storage capacity of the IT infrastructure greatly); supporting the processing of a large number of structured or unstructured data; dynamic and scalable computing capacity (to meet the ever-changing user demands); very high fault tolerance that can facilitate to fulfill the given tasks properly even in case of the nodal failure of computing resources and to remove and replace the damaged nodal computing/storage units without cutting off the power of the cloud computer (to improve the scalability, flexibility and timely disaster recovery ability of the whole computer); rapid deployment technology (to greatly improve the deployment speed, efficiency and quality for the users of big data).

The “UNIS Cloud 1000” Cloud Computer will bring about fully new user experience: fully open to be compatible with various general hardware and industrial application software; computing capacity and storage capacity dynamically scalable and unlimitedly extensible upon demand; saving at least 90% of the deployment time compared with the traditional IT system deployment. For example, for the deployment of a big data system for cloud computing with the traditional hardware and software, it takes a skilled IT technical team that consists of over 10 people at least one month or even several months to conduct the deployment during the construction of the hardware platform and the installation of the virtualization software and the cloud management platform. However, with a UNIS Cloud Computer, it only takes a skilled technician a few hours to do all the work ranging from powering on to deployment.

The promising UNIS Cloud Computer can meet the demands of the users from such big-data industries as the financial industry, the telecommunications industry, the public security industry, the transportation industry, the health industry and the TV & broadcasting industry for high performance, low cost, high reliability and high expandability and promote the wide use of information technology in the Internet of things, the smart city, the smart grid, the intelligent transportation system, the intelligent medical service system and the food safety system. For example, according to the requirements on the construction of a “Safe City”, a medium-sized city shall have annually 300PB of video monitoring data. And a single UNIS Cloud Computer can process all the data while saving three months’ monitoring records.

UNIS has laid a certain technical and industrial foundation in cloud computing. In 2012, with the great support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, UNIS cooperated with the Qinhuai District of the Nanjing City on the “UNIS Cloud Project” by setting up the Cloud Information Service Industry Innovation Center in the China Cloud Computing Innovation Base in Nanjing. As an industrialized innovation base integrating cloud computing, R&D of new big data processing technologies, transfer of scientific achievements, business incubators and personnel training into an organic whole, this center will provide the smart grids, new communications systems, intelligent transportation systems, Internet of things, smart cities, E-commerce and mobile Internet with the SPI (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) service for cloud computing. Up to now, the “UNIS Cloud Project” has achieved initial results and entitled by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as the “New Qinhuai Mode”, which shows that UNIS has become world-leading in terms of cloud computing and big data industry innovation.

The creation of the UNIS Cloud Computer indicates that UNIS has made a great breakthrough in such core cloud computing technologies as distributed computing, virtual resources management and rapid deployment, mastered and possessed its own controllable cloud computing technology system and a complete set of hardware and software system, made China's core cloud computing industries world-leading and laid a solid technical and industrialized foundation to facilitate cloud computing to play an important role in China's informatization construction process. In addition, its open platform facilitates such core hardware and basic software as the domestic CPU to work as well as the like products from abroad in the big data age, which enables to greatly improve the localization level of China's information industry and thus ensure the national information security.
