The Seventh Tus Innovation Forum Closed in FuzhouPrint

Along with the Chinese economic development in the new normal condition, the driving value of innovation becomes more and more significant, and it has become the common view of the governments of both sides across the Straits to encourage youth to start up business. Meanwhile, how should incubators, which take core incubation missions in the eco-system of innovation and entrepreneurship, innovate itself to open wider growth space for young entrepreneurs? On September 25 to 26, 2015, the seventh Tus Innovation Forum themed by “Youth Venture & New Incubation” was held in Fuzhou, bringing the strongest storm of innovation and entrepreneurship in this year for this city. Representatives of all circles of both sides across the Straits, including local governments, new type incubators, science parks, hi-tech enterprises, innovation service institutions, investment institutions, and so on, performed multi-perspective and deep discussion in the forms of issuance of authoritative research reports, cross-field dialogue, on-site road show, and so on. Meanwhile, foundation laying of TusCity Fuzhou Project with a total investment of RMB 17 billion was completed during this forum, starting a full-chain science and technology service system building for the local innovation and entrepreneurship.

It was learned that Tus Innovation Forum was sponsored by Tus-Holdings Co., Ltd., organized by TusPark Research Institute for Innovation of Tsinghua University together with the local government of the site of the corresponding TusCity, and participated in by various levels of government officers, industrial experts, and representatives of enterprises in China and leaders and workers in hi-tech industry from the whole world. With the eternal theme of “cooperation, sharing, innovation and co-win”, it is an annual forum aiming to discuss about innovation concepts and practices from different angles and levels. Each session of this Forum has a special theme determined in combination with the development of the times, the innovation trend in China and the whole world, and the local economic characteristics. Leading the new tide of innovation thoughts, it is a high-level exchange platform organized to promote local economic construction, cultural development, technological innovation and collision of ideas.


The seventh Tus Innovation Forum was supported by International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) and jointly organized by the Management Committee of Fuzhou New High-tech Zone, Enterprise Cooperation Committee of Tsinghua University and TusPark Research Institute for Innovation of Tsinghua University. This is the first session of this Forum held in Southeast China. To meet the tide of the times of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, this session of the Forum is themed by “Youth Venture & New Incubator”, and provides the participants with a sumptuous banquet of innovation thoughts through three research reports (respectively Appraisal and Study Report on the Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment in China in 2015, Opportunities and Challenges for Urban Innovation Development under the Background of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Study Report on the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment of County-level Cities in China), two cross-field dialogues (respectively “Education Reform in the Age of ‘Internet+’” and “Cross Strait Young Entrepreneurs Dialogue on New Incubators”) and a project road show (Annual Demo Day of TusStar Entrepreneurship Camp 2015) in addition to the general meeting.

 The ranking list of innovation and entrepreneurship environment of cities in China 2014 was released.

 According to the tradition, the ranking list of innovation and entrepreneurship environment of cities in China, an authoritative annual ranking list on local soft environment of innovation and entrepreneurship appraised by TusPark Research Institute for Innovation of Tsinghua University is released at each session of the Forum. At the opening ceremony of this session of the Forum, the ranking list 2014 was released, in which Shenzhen ranked No. 1 consecutively with a result consisting of No. 1 in three of the totally eight single indicators, followed respectively by Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Qingdao.

It is worthy of attention that, in the Appraisal and Study Report on the Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment in China in 2015 released together with the ranking list, 100 cities of county level or above (excluding cities directly under the central government) in Chinese Mainland are analyzed, and the top 10 cities are appraised systematically. In addition, the annual themed report titled by Opportunities and Challenges for Urban Innovation Development under the Background of Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and a special report titled by Study Report on the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment of County-level Cities in China, which provides special analysis on the top 20 county-level cities, were released too.


Industrial experts discuss about the education reform in the age of “Internet+”


Qu Zhenyuan, a member of the tenth national committee of CPPCC and chairman of China Association of Higher Education, is giving a themed lecture in the first dialogue of the Forum.


The first dialogue of this Forum, themed by Education Reform in the Age of ‘Internet+’, was chaired by Sun Man, board chairman of Tus-Education Group. The specially invited education experts such as Qu Zhenyuan (chairman of China Association of Higher Education), Nie Fenghua (deputy director of Online Education Research Center of Ministry of Education, deputy secretary general of Tsinghua University and director of Online Education Office of Tsinghua University), and Li Yue (Party secretary of Education Research Institute of Tsinghua University) respectively aired their opinions on such topics as the new education trend under the new normal condition, the development trend of online education and Tsinghua University’s practice in this aspect, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and so on.


At the forum, the preparation release ceremony of Nanjing Tus Kylin International College and the opening ceremony of Tus Science and Education Incubator were held too. According to introduction, Tus Science and Education Incubators were respectively set in Beijing, Kunming, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou by Tus-Education together with Beijing Jinyu Group, Kunming New High-tech Zone, Eastcom Group and other institutions. After establishment of these incubators, Tus-Education will be dedicated to incubation of science and education enterprises together with all social circles.   


Cross Strait Young Entrepreneurs Dialogue on New Incubators 



To provide the cross-strait young entrepreneurs with a platform of communication and exchange, the second dialogue of this Forum is themed by Cross Strait Young Entrepreneurs Dialogue on New Incubators. Chen Youzhong (sponsor and partner of iD TechVentures in Taiwan), Pang Yuanhong (director of Incubator Service Department of Shanghai Pudong Kechuang Center), Shen Quanhong (general manager of TusStar), Jin Zisen (CEO of Cheku Café), Shi Danji (sponsor of -23seed new type incubator in Shanghai), Luo Ziwen (sponsor of Huodongxing, the largest Chinese campaign platform in the world established in Taiwan), Du Pengfei (champion of Slush World 2014 in Finland and co-sponsor of Yikai Technology), Ding Xuelei (sponsor of Zaliangji, a e-commerce incubation platform for designers), Wei Chen (general director of Leren Lezhu Social Innovation Institute), Wang Jian (co-sponsor of Xiche Technology) and the representatives of new type incubators aired their opinions on the development direction of new type incubators and provided useful development thoughts for the emerging new incubators in China.

Annual Demo Day of TusStar Entrepreneurship Camp 2015


The annual TusStar Entrepreneurship Camp is the best arena for entrepreneurship teams all over the country. The TusStar Entrepreneurship Camp 2015 was started in April in 11 cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, and has attracted nearly 2,000 entrepreneurship teams. After hundreds of trainings and road shows attracting the attention of nearly 1,000 investors, finally 22 entrepreneurship projects involving smart hardware, new materials, energy saving and environmental protection, high-end manufacture, online education, and so on, stood out and participated in the road show of Annual Demo Day of TusStar Entrepreneurship Camp, and received wonderful comments of senior investors from major investment institutes in China. At last, 10 TusStar enterprises were selected on the site of the road show, which would be provided with such supports as seed investment, attention of scores of billion venture fund, linking with Top 500 enterprises and entrepreneurship fund from 50 new High-tech Zones. 


Fuzhou and TusHoldings are jointly building an emerging comprehensive science park

It is worthy of attention that, after closing of this Forum, TusHoldings invited all the participants to Fuzhou Haixi New Hi-tech Industrial Park to witness the foundation laying ceremony of TusCity Fuzhou Project. According to plan, this project will have a total coverage of about 2,300mu, a total building area of nearly 2,500,000m2, and a total investment of about RMB 17 billion. As a carrier of the comprehensive cooperation between Tsinghua University and the two levels of government of Fujian Province and Fuzhou City, TusCity Fuzhou will have full-chain science and technology service functions such as local technological innovation, industrialization of scientific and technological fruits, high-tech financial services, and investment into startups. As the undertaker of this project, TusHoldings will combine its rich experience in establishment and nearly 20 years of operation and management of TusPark with the local economic development needs of Fuzhou, actively explore and establish brand new technological innovation service mode, build an emerging comprehensive science park near Taiwan Straits that gathers high-end industries and talents and integrates innovation, entrepreneurship, working, living and leisure functions, and actively promote the technological innovation and economic transformation and upgrading of this area.  


Along with the encouragement of mass entrepreneurship by the stage, young entrepreneurs will certainly be an important force among all the social entrepreneurs. Convening of this Forum not only reflects TusHoldings’ leading position in the field of entrepreneurship incubator, but also meets the national macroeconomic policies and the new development tide of both sides of the Straits. In addition, it points out a direction for young entrepreneurs and the development of new incubators under the new macro environment, builds a platform of communication and exchange for young entrepreneurs on both sides of the Straits, and plays an active role for the collision of innovation thoughts of the young entrepreneurs and implementation of their entrepreneurship concepts.
