On July 25, 2015, the Seminar on the New Connotation of the Cooperation in Technological Innovation between China and Thailand under the Background of “Belt and Road” organized by TusCity Investment & Development Co., Ltd. and undertaken by TusCity Yunnan was held in Kunming. Wang Jiwu, president of TusHoldings, participated in the seminar and gave a themed speech. Nearly 30 famous enterprisers from Thailand participated in the seminar, including Mr. Boonthong (former minister of Ministry of Education of Thailand and board chairman of BP Compact Co., Ltd.), Mr. Prayudh (former senator and president of PM Group), Mr. Anant (board chairman of Buriramsugar Co., Ltd.), and so on. This seminar received great supports from Yunnan Association for International Friendly Contact and Tsinghua EMBA Yunnan Alumni Association.

The year 2015 is the 40th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. In these 40 years, the people of these two countries sailed in the same boat and had great achievement in cooperation. At present, while the governments of the two countries are jointly promoting the construction of “Belt and Road”, technological innovation also becomes the dominant force for the two countries and even all countries in the world to seek for sustainable and sound social and economic development. As a bridge tower of China toward Southeast Asia, Kunming has become a front edge of the national opening-up under such strategies as “Belt and Road”.

In his speech, Wang Jiwu expressed that: the global economy presented an obvious divide since the 1980s, Hong Kong was caught up gradually by Shenzhen, and Shenzhen rose rapidly by virtue of technological innovation and industrial upgrading; Some developed countries and regions such as Japan and Britain also met the same or similar problems; as developing countries, China and Thailand needed to meet such challenge in the global economic competition through technological innovation and industrial upgrading.

Meanwhile, in the opinion of Wang Jiwu, the cooperation between enterprises in China and Thailand had a solid foundation. Thailand is an important country and geographic center of Southeast Asia, and has good economic development and location advantages. Meanwhile, the relation between China and Thailand has a long history, and Thailand is a preferred area for Chinese enterprises to develop in Southeast Asia. At present, the two countries are actively promoting the construction of “Belt and Road”, and the governments, as the setting and implementing body of national strategies, play important guiding and promoting role during the construction of the economic belt. However, the source of vigor, driving force and potential of economic and social development rest with innovative development of enterprises. Technologically innovative enterprises in China represented by TusHoldings and the enterprises in Thailand should work closely with each other to promote the economic and social development of the two countries.

Mr. Boonthong, leader of the enterpriser delegation of Thailand, former minister of Ministry of Education of Thailand, and board chairman of BP Compact Co., Ltd., responded in his speech the opinions of Wang Jiwu as follows: “I quite agree with President Wang. China and Thailand are facing the same challenges in the new development environment. To meet these challenges, both government and enterprises should play effective roles. Particularly, technological innovation of enterprises may become a key solution for the development problems. ” Mr. Boonthong also explained his opinions concerning the cooperation between enterprises in China and Thailand in terms of technological innovation based on the status quo of Thai government and the enterprises in Thailand, and invited President Wang Jiwu to visit Thailand for investigation so as to jointly develop and run science parks in Thailand, build technological innovation platforms and promote the development of high-tech industries in Thailand.
