TusHoldings Creates Together with 21Vianet Group a “Belt and Road” Digital Economy Development Investment Fund with a Value of Ten Billion US DollarsPrint

On December 16, 2015, as an important part of the Second World Internet Conference, the forum themed by “Win-win Cooperation on the Digital Silk Road” and sponsored by China National Internet Information Office was held in Wuzhen. Wang Jiwu, president of TusHoldings, attended this Forum upon invitation and gave a speech themed by “Internet + Clustering Innovation”. During the Forum, witnessed by Xu Jinghong (board chairman of Tsinghua Holdings), Wang Jiwu and Chen Sheng (board chairman of 21Vianet Group) signed on behalf of the two enterprises a memorandum of understanding concerning the establishment of Century Union “ Belt and Road” Digital Economy Development Investment Fund (“the Fund”). 


The joint establishment of OEDF fund (Century Union “Belt and Road” Digital Economy Development Investment Fund) by TusHoldings and 21Vianet is an important fruit of the Forum, aiming to carry out the “Belt and Road” strategy of China and promote the development of and cooperation in digital economy of the countries along the belt and the road. With a total value of USD 10 billion, the Fund will be devoted to building up the information infrastructure of the countries along the belt and road, sharing good experiences on Internet application, promoting the Internet-based business operation mode reform and the new generation of information technology innovation based on cloud computing, big data and Internet of Things, developing online spaces and investment & financing platforms appropriate for youth innovation and entrepreneurship, facilitating development of innovative hi-tech enterprises for the resource integration, advantage complementing and win-win cooperation of the countries along the belt and road. 



The Fund will help to serve and drive the development of digital economy of the countries along the belt and road, promote joint construction and sharing of information infrastructures among these countries, facilitate resource complementing and benefit sharing among these countries, realize win-win cooperation of these countries and jointly develop communities of destiny and interests related to network space to benefit the people in these countries.
  

As a comprehensive large enterprise established by the Tsinghua University, TusHoldings takes TusPark as the carrier, actively promotes organic interaction of innovation resources and local economy under the overall objective of “becoming a leader in China and a model in the world in the science and technology service industry”, actively responds to the national “Belt and Road” initiative, and makes active exploration in terms of global collaborative innovation. So far, it has built over 30 science parks and science cities in China. By actively setting the layout in the countries along the belt and road, it has conducted strategic cooperation on the joint construction of science parks with many countries, such as Pakistan, Russia, Egypt, Malaysia and Thailand.


  
According to President Wang Jiwu, promoted by new business formats, such as digital economy, TusHoldings has united partners in all walks of life, actively carried forward such concepts as digital park and smart science city, and built multi-level and multi-channel connections for such resources as enterprise, government, college and community by virtue of the operation concept of digital and network-based park layout and connection. He also said that the newly established “Belt and Road” Digital Economy Development Investment Fund would collaborate with the science parks of TusHoldings to promote the innovative development of new economy and new technologies of the countries along the belt and road and the communication and resource sharing among these countries, so as to benefit the people of these countries through digital economy.
  
With respect to this cooperation, President Wang emphasized, “On the one hand, TusHoldings can provide more high-quality resources for the Fund by virtue of the global science park network and the enterprise gathering effect of the parks, and one the other hand, it can provide a series of value-added services for the projects of the Fund by virtue of its science parks in the countries along the belt and road as well as its many years of experience in science and technology innovation service, and help to build and promote the communication between the enterprises and the markets in these countries, so as to further promote the implementation of the ‘Belt and Road’ strategy .”

The “Win-win Cooperation on the Digital Silk Road” Forum, an important part of the World Internet Conference 2015, initiates communication and discussion on two topics, i.e. joint construction of information infrastructures and innovation in resource integration mode. With respect to joint construction of information infrastructures, the representatives from different countries shared their development experiences and key fruits in information infrastructure construction, and discussed deeply about the principle of discussion, joint construction and sharing under the background of Internet as well as the great conception of “Belt and Road” Initiative. 

“Belt and Road” is not closed or exclusive but open and all-inclusive as a chorus of all the countries along the line instead of solo of China. It seeks for win-win cooperation of these countries. The “Win-win Cooperation on the Digital Silk Road” Forum aims to deepen the win-win cooperation, so that Internet can benefit people more.
