Former US Secretary Of Energy Dr. Steven Chu Visited TusHoldings and Gave A Speech in Tsinghua UniversityPrint

On January 11, Dr. Steven Chu, former US Secretary of Energy, Nobel laureate in physics and professor of physics at Stanford University, paid a visit to TusHoldings and gave two keynote speeches titled “Energy, Climate Change and Sustainable Development” and “Applications of New Nanomaterials in Biology, Biopharmaceutics and Air Purification Industry” at “Tsinghua Global Vision Lectures” and “TusPark Lectures” of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University respectively.

This was Dr. Steven Chu’s second visit to TusHoldings following his first visit on November 16, 2015. Professor Mei Meng, director of TusPark Development Center and chairman of TusHoldings, had a talk with Dr. Zhu and his entourage in TusPark Club. And the two sides conducted extensive communication on international climate change, energy technology development, environmental protection industry cooperation, innovation & entrepreneurship education for college students and other issues. Wang Jinzhan (director of National Science and Technology Communication Center of China Association for Science and Technology), Yao Qiang (director of Laboratory of Low Carbon Energy of Tsinghua University), Andre Bray (president of Inventys) and other representatives attended the talk. Yang Ming, Zhang Zhonghua and Miao Chun, deputy general managers of Tus-Technological Service Group, also participated in the reception.

Prior to Dr. Steven Chu’s keynote speech at “Tsinghua Global Vision Lectures”, Yang Bin, vice president of Tsinghua University, had a cordial meeting with Dr. Steven Chu. The keynote speech was presided over by Professor Yao Qiang, director of Laboratory of Low Carbon Energy of Tsinghua University and dean of Graduate School of Tsinghua University. Dr. Steven Chu's speech began with the industrial revolution and the agricultural revolution, which showed how technology was changing the world. And he shared his views on climate change, rapid changes in energy development and the ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce clean energy costs. During the speech, the interaction was very positive. Wang Jinzhan (director of National Science and Technology Communication Center of China Association for Science and Technology), Zhang Wei (director of Tsinghua X-lab), Gao Feng (vice director of Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University), Zhang Zhonghua and Miao Chun (deputy general managers of Tus-Technological Service Group), Shao Yunming (senior manager of Tus-Technological Service Group) and other guests attended the above activity.

During his speech at “TusPark Lectures” of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, Dr. Steven Chu demonstrated his team’s research findings in light-stable near-infrared optical probe that allowed for super-resolution imaging of living cells and organisms and could be used for in vivo migration imaging in living cells. At the scene of the speech, Dr. Steven Chu, Academician Qian Yi, Academician Hou Li’an and other participating experts and scholars conducted an in-depth discussion on air purification. The keynote speech at “TusPark Lectures” was presided over by Long Lin, president of Yadu Indoor Environmental Science and Technology; Huang Lei (deputy director of International Cooperation Department of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park Administrative Committee) et al attended the speech.
