TusLink U.S. China Innovation Ecosystem Conference Successfully Held in University of MichiganPrint

A few days ago, TusLink U.S.-China Innovation Ecosystem Conference hosted by TusHoldings and co-hosted by TusStar Ann Arbor, Michigan Ross School of Business, Ann Arbor Spark, and Michigan-China Innovation Center was successfully held in University of Michigan. This conference aims to provide scientific and technological innovation related cooperation and exchange platforms for Chinese and US enterprises, and to build a bridge of business development, cooperation seeking and resource linking for them. More than 180 representatives of Chinese and US government agencies, SMEs, science parks, accelerators, entrepreneurial communities and investors gathered to create innovation. 


As an important part of Michigan China Week, this conference received great support from Michigan China Innovation Center. Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. OUYANG Weimin, , Deputy Director of The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. XIE Yuan Deputy Secretary General of Sichuan Provincial Government, Mr. NIU Xiaofeng, and Executive Director of Michigan China Innovation Center, Mr, Brian Connors, and government representatives and enterprise representatives attended the luncheon before the conference and exchanged ideas. 
 

In her speech, Cynthia Willbanks, Vice President of University of Michigan, summarized the good cooperation relationship between University of Michigan and China, and expressed her expectations on the future cooperation in scientific research as well as scientific and technological service between the two parties, especially the cooperation between OTT Center or Ross School of Business of the University and TusHoldings. 


XU Junpu, Senior Vice President of TusHoldings, gave a keynote speech at the forum of the conference. He introduced systematically the history of TusHoldings and its advanced concepts and successful experiences in science park construction and operation. He expressed, “as an innovation ecosystem constructor based in China and facing the whole world, TusHoldings is always devoted to gathering and linking of innovation elements, and knows well the influence of abundance of ecosystem on innovation. We believe the successful holding of this conference and the sustainable development of TusStar Ann Arbor will promote the construction of innovation ecosystems in China and America.”


Scott DeRue, Dean of Michigan Ross School of Business, reviewed the close cooperation relationship between University of Michigan and China in his speech. He mentioned that, in recent years, University of Michigan had made remarkable achievements in commercialization of research findings as a top-grade public university in US. He expected that this conference could further promote the establishment of more effective cooperation relations with Chinese companies such as TusHoldings.  


WANG Yongrui, Deputy General Manager of TusStar, introduced the development conditions of the innovation network of TusStar. He pointed out that, as a famous incubator of S&T startups in China, TusStar started to build the global innovation network in 2013, and had set innovation incubation bases in more than 60 cities in the world, supporting the development of thousands of incubating entrepreneurial projects. As an important node in the innovation network, TusStar Ann Arbor is the first overseas incubation base built by TusStar, and has been playing a more and more important role since its establishment.


During the conference, Dr. DONG Tiefei, Assistant Director of Technology Transfer Center, University of Michigan, and Skip Simms, Senior Vice President of AnnArborSpark, respectively introduced the research finding commercialization flows of University of Michigan, use of the Gap Fund established with TusHoldings, and conditions of Michigan Angel Investment Fund and Venture Fund. Skip Simms, on behalf of Michigan Investment Association, he also issued “Ann Arbor Regional Best Technology Service Award in 2017” to NI Zhi, General Manager of TusStar Ann Arbor, to commend TusStar for its contribution to local innovation and entrepreneurship.

In addition, Stephen Rapundalo, President of Michbio, and Ned Staebler, Executive President of TECHTOWN, respectively introduced medical enterprises in Michigan and their innovation, innovation ecosystem of Detroit, and some examples of Sino-US cooperation, and proposed some opinions on the development of Detroit and Ann Arbor. M.S. Krishnan, Deputy Dean of Michigan Ross School of Business, Richard Olson, Executive Director of Enterprise Education, Professor WU Xun, Supervisor of China Center, Fredrick Molnar, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and Natalie Chmiko, Director of Department of International Trade, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, respectively introduced their organizations and expressed their intentions to serve the entrepreneurship ecosystem of Michigan, China and US. 

At the end of the conference, NI Zhi shared the latest progress of TusStar Ann Arbor, and expressed thanks to the social circles concerned for their support. He emphasized that TusStar Ann Arbor would further bring into play its role of linker in Sino-US innovation ecosystem, and construct a bridge of communication for entrepreneurs in US and China. After that, nearly 30 startup enterprises and organizations from the two countries had exchanges in the fields of automobile, medical care, cyber security, Fintech,  and so on.
