TusHoldings Signs Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Agreements with the Royal Thai GovernmentPrint

On August 25, 2018, at the forum themed by “Thailand and China Belt and Road Initiative Connectivity for the Future” held at the Pattaya International Conference Center in Thailand’s coastal city - Pattaya, Herbert CHEN, COO of TusHoldings, as commissioned by Chairman WANG Jiwu, signed comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements with the relevant ministries of the Thai government on behalf of TusHoldings. Dr. Somkid, Thailand’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Utama, the Thai Minister of Industry, Dr. Pichet, the Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Dr. Kanit, Secretary General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office of Thailand, and other leaders of the Thai government attended the forum and witnessed the signing ceremony. At the press conference held after the plenary session and signing ceremony of the forum attended by Chinese State Councilor WANG Yong, the leaders of the Thai government repeatedly mentioned TusHoldings, expressing sincere gratitude to TusHoldings for its great support with respect to the EEC development strategy and expecting more on TusHoldings.

Two cooperation agreements were signed:

The memorandum of cooperation signed with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand (DEPA) on the development of Digital Park Thailand and IoT Institute. According to the memorandum, TusHoldings will be invited to provide the key projects in the EEC of Thailand - Digital Park Thailand and its IoT Center comprehensive support services, including overall planning, construction, management and personnel training of the digital park.

The memorandum of cooperation signed with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand (DEPA), the Department of Industrial Promotion of Thailand (DIP) and the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology on the building of the EEC start-up enterprise cluster. According to the memorandum, TusHoldings will conduct extensive and in-depth substantive exchanges and cooperation with Thailand in terms of the overall design, development and management of the EEC startup cluster and innovation ecosystem, internationalization, investment and financing model, enterprise matching and cooperation, personnel training, integration of various resources for joint construction of incubators and accelerators, etc.

Similar to the Chinese government’s strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, the EEC strategy launched by the Thai government recently is a major strategic move at the national level, which will not only play a very important role in promoting the social and economic development of Thailand in the next 5-10 years, but also become an important strategic economic channel leading to ASEAN and the gateway of the sub-region of the five countries in the Southeast Asia - Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. At the sincere invitation of the high-level leaders of the Thai government, TusHoldings fully participated in the EEC work from the planning and construction of the infrastructure to the construction and operation management of the innovation ecosystem in the corridor, reflecting TusHoldings’ determination and strength to respond to and implement the “Belt and Road Initiative” of the Chinese government with practical actions, and to make contributions to the social and economic development of China and Thailand.

As a quick response to the specific content of the agreements, 4 hours after the signing of the agreements, Herbert CHEN, COO of TusHoldings, WANG Shiqi, CEO and President of 21Vianet Group, and HUANG Haibin, Vice President of Tus Digital Group, paid a visit to the planned site of Digital Park Thailand and IoT Institute, the alternative site of the international incubator to be jointly established by TusHoldings and Thailand and other sites, exchanged views on the cooperation with the Thai government and enterprises in their respective fields, and reached a consensus on the specific communication mechanism and implementation schedule in the future.
