Tsinghua News, March 16: On the afternoon of March 15, a delegation led by XU Qin, Governor of Hebei Province, and CHEN Gang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of Hebei Province, Vice Governor of Hebei Province and Party Working Committee Secretary and Director of the Administration Committee for Xiong’an New Area, paid a visit to Tsinghua University. QIU Yong, President of Tsinghua University, and CHEN Xu, Party Secretary of Tsinghua University, together with JIANG Shengyao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University, and other leaders, met the guests in the H-shaped House.


CHEN Xu welcomed the delegation of Hebei Province. She said that Tsinghua University and Hebei Province had long been close partners, and had achieved fruitful cooperation results in personnel training, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, etc. In the future, based on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration and coordinated development, construction of Xiong’an New Area, preparation of the Winter Olympics and other important opportunities, Tsinghua University will further increase resource input and continue to deepen the strategic cooperation between the Province and the University. It is hoped that the two parties will continue to cooperate closely, support each other and develop together. The focus will be on the future construction and development of Xiong’an New Area, reform of university-run enterprises and in-depth cooperation, so as to promote Hebei Province’s economic and social development to a new level.


In his speech, XU Qin expressed his gratitude to Tsinghua University for its long-term support and help to Hebei Province. He said that as a well-known institution of higher learning at home and abroad, Tsinghua University had cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for China, had a first-class scientific research team, innovation platform and scientific research achievements, and had made great contributions to China’s economic and social development. Hebei Province and Tsinghua University have established a long-term close cooperative relationship, and the exchanges between the two parties are frequent and fruitful. In the future, we will further seek new modes of cooperation, conscientiously implement the spirit of the central government, fully support and promote reform of the enterprises run by Tsinghua University, support Tsinghua University’s scientific and technological innovation enterprises to participate in the construction of Hebei Province and Xiong’an New Area, and continue to deepen the cooperation between Hebei Province and Tsinghua University in various aspects.

CHEN Gang said that Tsinghua University played an important exemplary role in actively serving the major national strategies and fully supporting the planning and construction of Xiong’an New Area. He expressed his gratitude to Tsinghua University for its support to Xiong’an New Area, hoping that Tsinghua University would continue to give play to its advantages in disciplines, talents, etc. and provide a strong support for the implementation of the national strategies.

In his concluding speech, QIU Yong welcomed the delegation of Hebei Province on behalf of Tsinghua University and thanked Hebei Province for its long-term support for the cause of Tsinghua University. He said that Tsinghua University, as an important base for high-level personnel training and scientific and technological research in China, had been committed to making positive contributions to national and regional economic development for many years. He highlighted the recent progress of the university in terms of personnel training, scientific and technological innovation, global strategy implementation, etc., hoping that the two parties would further deepen cooperation in the future, grasp the good opportunity of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration and reform of university-run enterprises, promote the upgrade of the industries in Hebei Province with technological innovation, and further expand the areas and scope of cooperation between the two parties.


At the symposium, JIAO Jie, Chief Accountant and Director of the Operating Assets Management Office of Tsinghua University, and LONG Dawei, Board Chairman and Party Secretary of Tsinghua Holdings, reported on the reform progress of the enterprises run by Tsinghua University and the implementation of TusHoldings’ plan to serve Xiong’an. The two parties held in-depth discussions on relevant cooperation issues.

After the symposium, XU Qin and his entourage visited TusHoldings, Tsinghua University Technology Center of Protein Research, Institute for Network Sciences and Cyberspace, Institute for Artificial Intelligence and other locations, and CHEN Xu, JIANG Shengyao and other leaders accompanied them.

ZHU Haowen, Secretary General of Hebei Provincial Government, TIAN Jinchang, Executive Deputy Director of the Administration Committee for Xiong’an New Area and Board Chairman of Xiong’an Group, DANG Xiaolong, Director of Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and other leaders of the relevant departments directly under Hebei Province and relevant departments of Xiong’an New Area also participated in the visit. The relevant responsible persons of the Party Committee Office and President Office of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Holdings and TusHoldings attended the exchange.
