On May 31, the delegation of the Republic of Malta visited TusHoldings. Ms. H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, former President of Malta, Mr. Herbert CHEN, Executive Vice President of TusHoldings, and Ms. CHEN Lan, Board Chairman of SSH Global Project Planning and Investment Co. Ltd., had a talk and jointly witnessed the signing of the memorandum of cooperation by the Ministry of Finance of Malta, TusHoldings, Tus Triple Helix and SSH. Mr. Carmel Briffa, former Director of the Office of the President of Malta and Executive Officer of the Malta Trust, Mr. Michael Bianchi, CEO of the Malta Trust, and other participants attended the signing ceremony.

Mr. HOU Shuli, Senior Vice President of TusHoldings, Ms. JI Jingyi from Tus Triple Helix, Mr. Prof. Edward Scicluna, Minister of Finance of Malta, and Mr. XU Yuanhua, Special Adviser of Chairman of SSH, signed the memorandum of cooperation on behalf of the four parties. In the future, all parties will cooperate in the fields of artificial intelligence, marine technology, energy & environmental protection, education & training as well as the construction of China-Malta Double Science Parks, organization of the world marine innovative technology contest, development of technology finance and promotion of industry-academy-research cooperation, so as to achieve win-win development.

Ms. H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, former President of Malta, said during the talk that through close and in-depth coordination, the Ministry of Finance of Malta, TusHoldings and Tus Triple Helix signed this strategic cooperation agreement, which set a new chapter for multi-party cooperation and had important strategic significance for each Party. TusHoldings has rich experience in technological innovation service incubation, emerging industry cultivation, park construction management and other aspects, which fully meets the actual needs of Malta’s urban construction powered by science and technology. This cooperation will definitely enhance Malta’s technological innovation ecology and promote Malta’s development in marine science and technology, technology services, education and exchanges and other aspects.

Mr. Prof. Edward Scicluna, Minister of Finance of Malta, expressed that he felt much honored to visit TusHoldings, and the Malta government attached great importance to innovation in the field of science and technology and had invested a lot of resources in electronic chips, automotive, medical and other new technological areas. As he said, although Malta is a small island country, it still actively participates in international affairs and proposes two topics of developing the ocean and coping with climate change at the United Nations. According to him, since 1970, China and Malta have maintained good bilateral relations, and Malta’s stable and peaceful political position has been very suitable for the international development of enterprises. In addition, Malta’s advantageous geographical location can help TusHoldings to expand its influence in the Middle East, North Africa and the European Union, so that the two parties can achieve win-win cooperation as a highlight of cooperation between China and Malaysia.

Mr. Herbert CHEN, Executive Vice President of TusHoldings, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of Malta during the talk. As he said, TusHoldings is a commercial enterprise with a mission, founded by Tsinghua University, China’s top-notch institution of higher learning, and has formed its unique management model and operational philosophy after reform and development. The products exported by TusHoldings are high-tech enterprises. After 25 years of unremitting efforts, TusHoldings has turned a large number of business start-ups into large enterprises by means of incubation, mergers & acquisitions and fund investment. He firmly believed that the cooperation with TusHoldings would significantly promote the upgrading of local technological innovation services in Malta.

According to Mr. HOU Shuli, Senior Vice President of TusHoldings and Director of Tus Triple Helix, TusHoldings has set up innovation bases in the UK, Italy, Russia and many countries along the “Belt and Road”. He mentioned that during the early construction of Tsinghua University Science Park, TusHoldings had taken Silicon Valley and Cambridge as its learning objects. After 25 years of development, TusHoldings has become a technology service company with more than 300 innovation bases in the world, and incubated and helped more than 5,000 high-tech companies. TusHoldings has formed the world’s most advanced university science park operation concept, and exported successful experience to the university science parks of some countries along the Belt and Road to help them complete the upgrading of industry, universities and research institutes. In the end, he once again welcomed the delegation of Malta and looked forward to more in-depth cooperation in the future.
