Tus-Digital Group’s TDI Included as an Important Part of China-UK Cooperation on Smart CityPrint

Recently, the meeting of the China-UK Smart City Standardization Joint Working Group and the meeting of the China-UK Standardization Cooperation Committee were successfully held in London and Manchester respectively. A delegation led by TIAN Shihong, Party Organization Member and Deputy Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation as well as Director of the Standardization Administration, participated in the mechanism meeting of the China-UK Standardization Cooperation Committee on June 14 (hereinafter referred to as the “Plenary Meeting”). Professor LU Weifeng, Head of the National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City (hereinafter referred to as the “General Working Group”), attended the working meeting on smart city and the plenary meeting. ZHANG Dapeng, Executive Secretary of the National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City and Executive Director of Tus-Digital Research Institute, as the Chinese leader of the China-UK Smart City Joint Working Group, planned and organized the meeting of the Smart City Joint Working Group.


A delegation led by Director TIAN Shihong participated in the mechanism meeting of the China-UK Standardization Cooperation Committee on June 14.


Professor LU Weifeng, Head of the National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City, gave a report at the plenary meeting on behalf of the China-UK Smart City Joint Working Group.


On June 12, BSI and National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City jointly hosted the “China-UK Smart City Standardization Cooperation Meeting”. Mr. Michael Mulquin, Chairman of the international organization IEC/SyC SmC System Committee, Mr. Keiran Millard, Technical Expert of Smart City of BSI, Ms. JIANG Yi from the China Compliance Department of BSI, Mr. David Cuckow, Head of Global Cooperation of Hypercat Alliance, Dr. David Faulkner from the Climate Association attended the meeting.

 

Mr. Keiran Millard, Technical Expert of Smart City of BSI, expressed his greeting and gratitude to the representatives of China and the UK, and revealed BSI’s smart city standardization progress.

Five topics were discussed at the meeting. The Chinese representatives shared Chinese theme reports from four organizations, including General Working Group’s report themed by “New Smart City Guided by Plan and Supported by Standard”, Tus-Digital Group’s report themed by “New-generation Trustworthy Digital Infrastructure (TDI)”, THUPDI’s report themed by “Smart City Planning”, China-UK Joint Working Group’s report themed by “Smart City - Top-level Design Guide” and “Sustainable City Evaluation Indicators”; the UK representatives shared the “BSI Smart City Standardization Work Overview”.

 

The two parties worked out 5 resolutions after full discussion:

Start a working group on “Smart City - Decision-making Framework for the Application of New Technologies”.

Start a working group on “Smart City - Top-level Digital Infrastructure Planning”.

Start a working group on “Smart City - Digital Twin Improvement Planning Process”.

Pilot verification of China-UK standards at the China-UK Smart City Joint Working Group.

Closer cooperation between China and the UK on the smart city efforts of international organizations by means of the China-UK standardization mechanism.

 

The China-UK Smart City Joint Working Group will set up three new working groups to advance and implement various tasks, actively promote and achieve the common goals of both parties, and explore feasible models for joint application of standards. In the second half of the year, the Working Group will further implement the technical work in accordance with the resolutions of the meeting, and submit a better transcript for the China-UK Plenary Meeting next year. The two parties will mutually benefit, form the international best practices of smart city standardization and the success cases of the “Belt and Road Cooperation”, and give play to the greatest value of standards in improving the efficiency and experience of smart city. Tus-Digital Group’s TDI, as an important part of the China-UK bilateral smart city standardization cooperation, will lead the future infrastructure upgrade of smart cities and promote the flow of data, knowledge and algorithms of bilateral smart cities. China and the UK will conduct in-depth cooperation on TDI technology, standards, urban implementation, pilot demonstrations, etc.

The National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City was established to strengthen the overall planning and coordinated management of smart city work in China. The Standardization Administration officially issued the “Notice on the Establishment of the National Standardization Coordination Promotion Group, General Working Group and Expert Advisory Group on Smart City” (GBWGE[2014]33) in January 2014, discussing the smart city standard system and key standards, promoting the implementation of smart city standardization work in a scientific, standardized and orderly manner, and playing the technical support role of standardization in the construction of smart cities.

 

Under the guidance of the National Standardization Coordination Promotion Group on Smart City, the National Standardization General Working Group on Smart City is responsible for preparing China’s smart city standardization strategies and promotion measures, formulating China’s smart city standard system framework, coordinating the technical content and technical centralization of the standards related to China’s smart city, and setting up different working groups responsible for the formulation of national standards on smart city, international standardization, application of standards, etc.
