In his speech, Prime Minister Starmer stated that the UK and China should develop a long-term and stable comprehensive strategic partnership, a policy he established upon taking office in July 2024. He emphasized that the UK has much to contribute to China’s development. Starmer noted that this visit marks the first time in eight years that a British Prime Minister has set foot on Chinese soil—a significant period that underscores the historical importance of this visit. He stressed that the UK-China relationship must not only grow but develop more effectively. He described his meetings with Chinese leaders as highly successful, noting that genuine progress has been achieved. Such exchanges, he added, are exactly what he hopes for to facilitate the development of bilateral relations.

The forum featured ministerial seminars, keynote speeches, and networking sessions. It invited representatives from the UK and Chinese governments, business associations, and corporate executives for in-depth dialogues between government and industry. The event aimed to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both nations, consolidate institutionalized cooperation between the business communities, and explore specific cooperation intentions in relevant sectors.
