May 18, 2026 – Professor Offiong Efanga Offiong, President of the University of Calabar, Nigeria, led a delegation to visit TusHoldings. The delegation toured the TusHoldings Exhibition Hall and TusStar Incubator before attending a forum and signing ceremony with TusHoldings. Wang Jiwu, Chairman of TusHoldings, received the guests, and the two sides formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strategic cooperation. Rooted in the building of the China-Africa Community with a Shared Future, the parties will jointly launch a regular China-Nigeria innovation cooperation carrier: TusStar (Calabar) Innovation Center.

Chairman Wang Jiwu extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that TusHoldings has long been committed to advancing international scientific and technological cooperation, having established innovation hubs in multiple countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, and successfully rolled out the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" model in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Russia, Pakistan and other nations. Drawing on China’s industrial practices, Wang put forward three proposals for collaboration:

First, target industrial upgrading with a focus on youth innovation and entrepreneurship education. Leveraging its existing incubation network and experience in university partnerships, TusHoldings will support the University of Calabar in refining its innovation and entrepreneurship center and provide vocational training in emerging industries for young students.

Second, integrate industry, academia and research to drive commercialization of scientific and technological achievements and industrial upgrading. In response to Nigeria’s demand for upgrading traditional sectors including deep processing of agricultural products, food preservation and machinery manufacturing, the two sides will match China’s relevant sci-tech resources with local application scenarios to foster a regional industrial innovation center.

Third, explore in-depth cooperation under the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" framework to elevate bilateral ties to the national level, establish a China-Nigeria industrial cooperation platform, and deliver win-win results for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas and local industrial development.

The two sides held in-depth discussions and reached broad consensus on all fronts.

President Offiong stated that Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country with a large youth demographic, and over 60% of the population in Calabar are under 25 years old. His visit to China carries a strong vision to unlock promising prospects for local youth. He expressed the hope that cooperation with TusHoldings will expose students to cutting-edge technologies, equip them with skills for emerging industries and sharpen their global competitiveness. He added that numerous Nigerian students are highly enthusiastic about China’s scientific and technological innovations, and looked forward to tangible outcomes from this partnership that can truly empower the younger generation.

Zhang Jinsheng, Executive President of TusHoldings and Chairman of TusStar, stated that the two sides will deepen cooperation across four core areas: professional talent training, international technology transfer, youth education and exchanges, and overseas expansion services for Chinese and Nigerian enterprises. The TusStar (Calabar) Innovation Center will serve as a regional hub for technology, talent, industrial and cultural exchanges between China and Nigeria, supporting innovation-driven development in Nigeria and the wider West Africa region.

Witnessed by all attendees, Zhang Jinsheng, Executive President of TusHoldings and Chairman of TusStar, and Geng Qiang, Director of Business Development at TusStar, signed the MOU on behalf of the Chinese side. Professor Offiong Efanga Offiong, President of the University of Calabar, and Chukwuka Icha, Registrar and Secretary of the University Council, signed on behalf of the Nigerian side. Wang Jiwu, Chairman of TusHoldings, witnessed the signing ceremony.

Per the agreement, the two parties will co-develop the TusStar (Calabar) Innovation Center as a model regional platform for bilateral exchange of technology, talent, industries and culture.

This signing marks a major deliverable stemming from TusHoldings’ field research tour of Nigeria in 2025. In August 2025, a TusStar delegation traveled deep into West Africa to conduct on-site visits to core venues including the Calabar Free Trade Zone, modern agricultural complexes and Chinese manufacturing enterprises. The team held extensive talks with the University of Calabar and reached consensus on joint university-industry R&D, talent exchange and innovation incubation.

Prior to this visit, TusHoldings has continuously facilitated access to high-quality Chinese industrial resources for Nigeria. It successfully facilitated an agricultural cooperation project on camellia oleifera between Hainan Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Sanya Research Institute of Hainan University, and secured overseas expansion intentions from domestic manufacturers of aluminum profiles, rubber products and new energy vehicles, laying a solid industrial foundation for the construction of the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" platform.

Going forward, relying on the TusStar (Calabar) Innovation Center, the two sides will focus on three key sectors: tropical agriculture, local manufacturing and new energy. They will export China’s modern agricultural technologies, advanced manufacturing capacity and new energy equipment solutions to align with Nigeria’s drive for industrialization and green transition.

Other attendees at the event included: Yang Wenyi, Chairman of MARK-SINO Intl. FZE; Cao Meng and Wang Fei, Deputy General Managers of TusStar; Lin Shiyu, Project Manager of the International Cooperation Department of TusStar.
