On July 2, Svar Barrington, Trade and Economic Counsellor of the New Zealand Embassy in China, and his delegation visited Tsinghua Science Park. The delegation toured the TusHoldings Digital Exhibition Hall, TusStar Incubator, as well as AI enterprises and technical teams based in the park. Yang Ming, Vice President of TusHoldings, and Liu Xueliang, Director of Incubation Business, received the visitors and held discussions. The two sides exchanged views on the alignment of China-New Zealand innovation resources, cross-border enterprise incubation and international innovation cooperation. A regular communication mechanism was established to lay a solid foundation for future bilateral collaboration. Liu Zhenzhen, Director of China Business Development, Tus UK, and Tang Zi, Manager of China Business Development, Tus UK, attended the meeting.

During the exchange, the delegation learned about TusHoldings’ over 30 years of experience in sci-tech incubation and its global innovation layout. They gained first-hand insights into the cultivation and commercialisation of artificial intelligence and intelligent robotics enterprises in the park, and fully recognised the mature deep-tech incubation ecosystem and full-cycle innovation services at Tsinghua Science Park.

At the meeting, Yang Ming extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that TusHoldings and New Zealand already enjoy a solid foundation for cooperation, and elaborated on the Group’s global footprint and the “Two Countries, Two Parks” cooperation model. Leveraging its integrated strengths in science parks, tech industries and tech finance, TusHoldings has built a global innovation incubation network. Through dual-way incubation and cross-border resource coordination, it supports overseas innovative enterprises to enter China and Chinese firms to expand globally. He expressed hopes that both sides could capitalise on complementary strengths to advance practical China-New Zealand innovation cooperation.

Liu Xueliang presented TusHoldings’ sci-tech incubation system and enterprise empowerment model. TusHoldings connects research resources from multiple universities to build a systematic entrepreneurship support framework. Professional mentors assist academic startup teams to accelerate the commercialisation of research outcomes. Meanwhile, proof-of-concept centres and matched industrial and capital resources help address bottlenecks in early-stage technology transfer and startup growth. Several New Zealand enterprises have settled within TusHoldings’ global network. With localised operational capabilities, TusHoldings can continue supporting New Zealand innovative companies to expand their presence in China and worldwide markets.

Counsellor Svar Barrington highly commended TusHoldings’ incubation system and global operation capacity. He stated that New Zealand is advancing innovation reforms and upgrading its national innovation strategy, boasting strong fundamental research and industrial technology strengths. Constrained by its limited domestic market, high-quality New Zealand innovation projects and enterprises need access to China’s application scenarios, industrial supply chains and capital markets to scale up. He proposed establishing a long-term communication mechanism to facilitate two-way flows of innovation projects, technologies and talent, and broaden the scope of China-New Zealand innovation collaboration.

Moving forward, drawing on its global innovation network and cross-border incubation strengths, TusHoldings will deepen regular engagement with the New Zealand Embassy in China.
