The Third TusPark Innovation Forum Solemnly Held in Panyu Guangzhou ProvincePrint

The third TusPark innovation forum and the 2011 network annual conference of all the TusPark’s branch parks nationwide solemnly opened in Panyu Guangzhou province on October 13. This forum was sponsored by the Tsinghua University-TusPark Research Institute for Innovation, TusPark Co, Ltd, the Guangzhou Science and Technology and Information Bureau and the government of Panyu district, Guangzhou, organized by the Modern Industry Base Construction Department of Panyu district, Science and Technology and Information Bureau of Panyu district and TusPark innovation base in Guangzhou, supported by the health industry and academy research and incubation base of Guangzhou university town, with the theme of “Innovation and Urban Development”.

On the opening ceremony of the forum, the Rankings for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment of China’s Cities, the current achievements of the research and assessment on the regional innovation and entrepreneurship environment made by the Tsinghua University-TusPark Research Institute for Innovation, made its first release in the public.

During the "Twelfth five-year plan" period, Chinese government definitely proposes that science and technology advance and innovation should contribute to the transformation of economic development pattern and economic restructuring. Under the requirement of innovation-oriented country and innovative city, the state and the local government at all levels actively create conditions beneficial to innovation and entrepreneurship. In an attempt to gain a better understanding of the construction situation of the innovation and entrepreneurship environment, Tsinghua University-TusPark Research Institute for Innovation launched the research, i.e. the Rankings for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Environment of China’s Cities, among the per capital GDP top 100 prefectural-level cities with total GDP volume over hundreds of billions. It provides reference and help for the local governments to improve their innovation and entrepreneurship environment through comparing their soft and hard condition indicators such as the “policy, industry, academy, research, capital, introduction, trade and media” to track and understand the overall level of their conditions and analysis of the features of their conditions for innovation and entrepreneurship in different cities.

The ranking released this time made evaluation about the cities in terms of 16 indices designed from 10 aspects according to the regional innovation service system marked by “policy, industry, academy, research, capital, introduction, trade and media” with soft environment as its focus. And the top 10 cities are Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Xi’an, Chengdu, Wuxi and Shenyang.

Regional innovation environment construction is an important research subject of Tsinghua University-TusPark Research Institute for Innovation. With the further development of this subject, Tsinghua University-TusPark Research Institute for Innovation will successively release the rankings of innovation and entrepreneurship environment for each index and China science and technology industry parks. 

The Declaration for the Strategic Upgrade of TusPark Co, Ltd was also published on the forum. Those who attended the unveiling ceremony for the strategic upgrade of TusPark Co, Ltd were Xu Jinhong, the president of TusPark Co, Ltd and assistant president of Tsinghaua University, Wang Jiwu, the chairman and CEO of Hong Kong Baijun Group, Ma Zhigang, the president of Beijing Haoyang Real Estate Development Co, Ltd, Zhou Yafei, the vice president of Gome Group and Mei Meng, the CEO of TusPark Co, Ltd and the director of TusPark Development Center.

Under the leadership of the new boards of shareholders and directors, the strategic upgraded TusPark Co, Ltd will continue to make innovation in business pattern, to enrich business framework, to further strengthen the traditional business like real estate, investment and service, and make great effort to develop the potential business like finance, media and training, thus improve the combination level of the science and technology innovation embedded with various factors including policy, industry, academy, research, capital, introduction, trade and media with entrepreneurship environment and develop the whole business of scientific and technological service, leading this industry in China on a all-round innovation platform.

This innovation forum and the 2011 network annual conference of all the TusPark’s branch parks in Panyu, aimed at exploring regional innovation and sharing development experience, strengthening the cooperation between Tsinghua University, TusPark and Guangzhou in the industry, academy and research fields, and announcing the new stage which the innovation and development of the city scale promoted by the combined force of TusPark and Panyu district. With the development of the service provided by innovation base in Guangzhou and increasing number of regional platforms for innovation, there will be more and more technological fruit of Tsinghua University and research project gradually take root in Panyu district or other areas in Guangzhou. More venture groups with alumni of Tshinghua University as the majority will choose Panyu innovation base and forms a community marked by its advanced technology and entrepreneurship, which becomes an important part of innovation system of Guangzhou.
