Press Conference on Ranking of Chinese Cities’ Environment for Innovative Entrepreneurship Is Held in TusParkPrint

On December 16, 2011, the press conference on Ranking of Chinese Cities’ Environment for Innovative Entrepreneurship (sub-rank) was held in the TusPark club—the ranking is an academic achievement of Tsinghua University Tuspark Research Institute for Innovation. Mr. Qin Jun (Vice President of Tsinghua Science Park Co. Ltd, Vice President of Tsinghua University Tuspark Research Institute for Innovation) hosted the press conference and addressed the audience, while Ms. Zhang Hongmin (Assistant to the President of Tsinghua University Tuspark Research Institute, Deputy General Manager of TusPark Science and Technology Innovation) announced the Ranking of Chinese Cities’ Environment for Innovative Entrepreneurship (sub-rank). Mr. Chen Hongbo (Senior Vice President of Tsinghua Science Park Co., Ltd) attended the press conference. Near 40 media were present to cover the ranking release, including Xinhua agency, Science and Technology Daily, Beijing Daily, Guangming Daily, The Economic Daily and China Economic Times.
On October 13, 2011, the 3rd TusPark Innovation Forum & TusPark’s Nationwide Sub-parks Web Annual Meeting was held in Fanyu, Guangdong Province, where Tsinghua University Tuspark Research Institute for Innovation for the first time released to the public the ranking of Chinese cities’ environment for innovation entrepreneurship. At the press conference, the institute officially issued a report on the Ranking of Chinese Cities’ Environment for Innovation Entrepreneurship, which included sub-ranks for policy environment, industry development, human resources, R&D investment and outcome, financial support, agency service, market environment, innovation awareness, etc.
According to the country’s 12th Five-year Development Plan, it is clearly stated that science and technology progress and innovation should serve as a backbone of transferring the economic development mode and promoting economic restructuring. In answer to the need of building an innovative country and innovative cities, the central government, as well as local governments, will actively promote an environment that will encourage innovative entrepreneurship. To better understand the environment for innovative entrepreneurship across the country, Tsinghua University Tuspark Research Institute for Innovation has initiated the study of “Ranking of Chinese Cities’ Environment for Innovation Entrepreneurship,” which targets at prefectural-level cities with a GDP over 100 billion RMB and a GDP per capita ranking within TOP 100 in the country. Through analyzing parameters in aspects including “policy, industry, education, research, finance, agency, trade and media,”the study has not only tracked the general level of Chinese cities’ environment for innovative entrepreneurship, but also analyzed the features of each city in this respect, offering local government guidance and help in improving the city’s environment for innovative entrepreneurship.
