According to Ecns.cn report on March 21, China-UK Offshore Technology Collaboration Forum was opened in Yantai, Shandong on March 21. Experts in the offshore science and technology field from both countries will discuss scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in the fields such as offshore engineering, wind power and tides during the two-day forum. On the same day, “TUS-ORE Catapult Technology Research Center” was officially unveiled.

Tom Duke, Minister Counselor of the UK Embassy in China, said that the UK offshore wind power projects started early and mastered advanced technology, and hoped that relevant technologies could be introduced into China through this exchange, so as to realize the complementary advantages of the two countries in this field, and build a platform for exchanges and cooperation of offshore new energy technologies between the two countries. The forum attracted nearly 100 participants, including the representatives from the UK Embassy in China, Innovate UK, Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, as well as enterprises and research institutes in the offshore wind energy, offshore engineering, new energy, electric power and other industries in China and the UK.

The reporter learned from the Foreign Affairs Office of Yantai Municipal Government that in September 2018, the Administration Committee of Yantai Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Tus Qingfeng Technology Co., Ltd. and Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult signed an agreement, whereby the three parties would construct the Chinese Park of the Tus China-UK “Two Parks in Two Countries” in Yantai High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and jointly set up the “TUS-ORE Catapult Technology Research Center”. The main functions of the Technology Research Center include research and development of technologies, transformation of achievements, project cooperation, personnel training, project investment and incubation and other fields related to the offshore technology industry in China and the UK.

The forum was sponsored by the Innovate UK, Administration Committee of Yantai Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, and Foreign Affairs Office of Yantai Municipal Government.
